An Apology

Recently there have been requests, and demands, that an official of some governmental agency, of local or national scope, some undefined entity, should apologize for the fact that the evil of slavery befell a group of the ancestors of some present Americans. Just who would deliver the apology, on behalf of who, to who, on behalf of what group, has not been made clear.

Should I, on my behalf, or on behalf of my white slave owning ancestors, apologize to my black ancestors, or living descendents of slaves of my black ancestors, or living descendents of any and all slaves?

I am not representing any official entity or governmental body, but I would like to apologize on behalf of my white ancestors to my black ancestors for the fact that my white ancestors held some of my black ancestors in slavery. The apology is made to my living black relatives on behalf of my living white relatives. Peace!
