Grave Markers of two of my great grandfathers

All over Virginia, behind country churches and in family graveyards, there are markers like these. Here are the weathered headstones of two of my great grandfathers. At the top of each headstone is a circle containing the Cross of Honor, which is a German Cross with a Holly wreath inside.

These great grandfathers were in the march west, towards Appomattox, when Lee retreated from Richmond at the end of the war.
