Where Grandma DePriest Lived
Here are three home sites where Grandma DePriest lived.
There are no houses at the sites now.

The old Bailey home site. Martha lived here with John P
Bailey and latter with her second husband Lewis DePriest. She raised her
children here.

This site is near Mount Zion Methodist Church. The house stood
about halfway between the church and the house in the background. This is where
grandma raised her daughter’s children including my father. It is next door to
the Waller home. My mother could see where my father lived with his grandma
DePriest when they were courting. The cooking fireplace was large enough to
stand in. Snow would come down the chimney in winter and balls of fire during
summer thunderstorms.

This site was occupied by a duplex where grandma DePriest
last lived. It is across the road from Uncle John’s home. A trailer home now
occupies the grove of trees. I took my first steps while staying in the house
with Grandma while my sister was being born, so I say that Grandma DePriest
taught me how to walk. And my parents lived here when they were first married.
