Ben Waller and Relatives of His First Wife
Ben’s first wife was Sarah Francis (Fanny) Brown. In this
picture he poses with her relatives. In the middle is Ben. On the right is
Fanny’s brother Gilbert Brown. And on the left is Bill Jennings who married a
sister of Fanny. The picture was taken Jan 4, 1897. That was a long time after
Fanny had died. Ben kept in touch with relatives of his first wife. Their son
Jim is buried with Ben and second wife Cath behind the home place.

My son Lewis says these men look as if they make a living as
moon shiners and/or bootleggers. Margie says that every picture of Ben that she
has seen looks as if he never took a bath.
