Nags Head August 2002 (page 2)
I like to fly my kites at the beach.
This is my shadow as I flew the kite.
The only time Margaret plays solitaire is when we are at the seashore.
We like to visit the Elizabethan Gardens each year. Here is Margaret standing at the entrance. She bought a hanging basket this time.
Here is Margaret eating at the Fisherman's Wharf restaurant in Wanchese on Roanoke Island. We had never ate here before.
The restaurant is on the second floor, a steep flight of steps leads up to it. After we ate Margaret got vertigo and could not walk down the stairs, so we took the wheel chair elevator, not like your regular elevator. It takes nearly 2 minutes for the elevator to go one floor. Half way down the elevator groaned and stopped. That put us into a panic for a time, trapped in a narrow shaft that was growing warm. We yelled, that only made us more claustrophobic. I waited for a customer to walk up the stairs, but none came. Finally after pressing the alarm and operation buttons several times the elevator started moving again and we escaped in a few seconds.
