Lionel Construction Sets

After WWII the Lionel company tried to branch out into toys other than their trains. They were doomed in this endeavor. The post-war economy changed things for every toy manufacturer, including Erector, Chemcraft, and Tinker Toys. They all lost their customers.

This is a Lionel Airplane Ride in operation. The system of aluminum square girders was held together by rivets and rubber grommets. It was supposed that this would make it easier for young modelers to assemble the parts.
