CHILI CON CARNE
Margaret cooks chile, Sat Feb 12.
Here is the recipe, Margaret has clipped it from a magazine and glued it to an index card. She changed the recipe slightly. Instead of using lard she used canola oil. And garlic powder was used. V8 juice was used in place of tomatoes. The hot water was reduced since there was liquid in other ingredients. And she added to the onions some chopped red bell pepper that neighbor Bob Cox brought us.
Here is Margaret's recipe box, she has had it many years. It holds small index cards.
Margaret is dicing onions and red bell peppers.
The meat has started to brown and Margaret adds the onions and peppers.
Margaret adds a can of V8 juice.
Here I am eating the chili with saltine crackers.
