GOURD PIANO
The Thumb Piano, Kalimba or Mbira is an African instrument. The Kalimba has steel tines which can be tuned. The instrument can play tunes and is used as a percussion instrument.
Margaret can make sounds on the gourd piano.
The body is a gourd section, the sound board is wood, and the sounding vibrators are held to the board with a steel bar. This allows the vibrators to be tuned.
