Clay Street Steps (page 1)
The Clay Street steps let pedestrians get between 12th and 13th Streets along Clay Street. Children living in the Washington Street area used these steps to get to their school on Court Street.
In Clay Street looking up. There are three landings. From the top landing a double flight leads sideways to the top. The middle landing has a couple of blind wings on the side. From the bottom landing there may have been a double flight leading down sideways. Only the right flight is open today. At the bottom of this flight a couple of steps lead down to the sidewalk.

From the first landing looking up. Clay Street ends at the top and is bounded by the circular railing at the top. The sidewalks on either side lead to the top two flights of steps.
