Here are both sides of a postcard that Rubye sent home to sister
Lottie during her trip to China. Note that the postmark is Jan 19 1932. But
Rubye has the usual problem, she forgets that the year has changed and writes
1-18-31. The message reads:
Dear Lottie. Well – The Ocean is wonderful- we arrive in
Panama tomorrow AM- we are all well. enjoying trip. Will have a Birthday soon-
Will write long letter soon. Love Rubye.
Note that she spells her name as Rubye and her sister’s last
name is spelled Lane.
I guess the ship is the U S Army Transport “Grant”, and that
it is the ship Rubye was on.
