Uncle John built a lake on his land about 1930

Warren Jordan remembers helping with the work. A Fordson tractor was used to pull a dredge to move earth to the dam location. My father used to take me fishing in this lake when I was a child. Today it is filled with sediment and overgrown with lily pads.

In 1999, Taylor Bailey was found dead, lying face down in the spillway. Apparently he was cleaning out the spillway when he had a heart attack.

Here are two views of the lake from the same spot. The dam is along the left edge of the lower photo; it is overgrown with trees now. The dam was a good place to fish from when I was a child.
